Welcome to the Journey!

...
It is now August 14, about a month after I began this blog. I haven't really thought much about survival preparedness in the last month. I feel like I came to the conclusions I needed to to have peace.

1. God sustains me, protects me, and will provide for me.

2. Work hard and spend as little money as possible.

3. Prepare a pantry of food that will last 3 months.
> canned tomatoes and tomato paste
> dried split peas
> pinto and black beans
> white and brown rice
> green and red lentils
> dry pasta
> quick oats and steel cut oatmeal
> brown and white sugar
> flour
> grapeseed and olive oil
> balsamic vinegar
> white vinegar
> ketchup
> 3x of all spices
> dried cranberries and apricots
> honey
> peanut butter
> earl grey tea, herbal/flavored teas
> coffee
> molasses
> baking powder and baking soda
> vanilla
> yogurt starter
> powdered milk

4. Prepare a medicine cabinet that includes 3 months worth of your vitamins, supplements, herbals, pain killers, etc, as well as a completely stocked first aid kit.

5. Finally, the accumulation of 99% silver coins, little by little.

The Women and the Lamps

...
This blog is inspired by the parable of the women and the lamps, as told in Matthew 25:1-13. Regardless of how the future turns out, it is wise to prepare in the best way that we can. As such, this blog will detail my research on the subject of preparedness and will include some of our plans. It will also feature my research on some of the possible situations and concerns that may arise.

"Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten women who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. When the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

"At midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all the women arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ While they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

"Afterward, when they came back, they said, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

"Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. "
